Mid-Prairie High School’s Culinary II class prepared a four-course meal for the Middle School’s 8th grade class on April 28 in the cafetorium. Culinary students, directed by Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Glenda Seward, gained experience planning, preparing, and serving such a meal. Eighth graders practiced proper etiquette and table manners reviewed prior in the classroom.
Statler Construction, Steve and Julie Berger, PSI, Kalona Realty, Northwestern Mutual Life, Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, Beatty & Peterseim Funeral & Monument Services, Hills Bank, The News, and Brenneman Pork sponsored the meal for 300, and other individuals made contributions as well.
The meal included charcuterie boards, breadsticks, salad with homemade dressing, chicken alfredo with fresh pasta, bacon-wrapped asparagus, and Snickers, dulce de leche, Oreo, and crème brulee cheesecakes.
