Mary Kathryn (Kathy) Schumacher, 73, of Ackley, formerly of Loveland, Colorado and Lone Tree, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at Grand JiVante in Ackley. 
Kathy was born May 9, 1951, to Robert and Phyllis (Smith) Schumacher, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated in 1969 from St. Edmond High School.
On Feb. 20, 1971, Kathy and Arden Lynn Kasper were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Duncombe, Iowa. To this union, four children were born: Michael Justin and Robert Paul (1971), Daniel Arden (1975), and Anne Kristine (1978).
Kathy lived in Lone Tree for many years before moving to Colorado. She returned to Iowa in 2021, where she remained until her death.  
Kathy is survived by her children: Rob (Nancy) Kasper of Cedar Rapids, Mike of Swisher, Dan of Brunswick, Georgia, and Anne of Loveland; her grandchildren: Tyler and Trey Hockaday and Aiden Kasper, Allie and Lucas Kasper, Alex Kasper and TJ Syrock, and Tony, Lily, and Damen Kasper; her mother: Phyllis Schumacher of Iowa Falls; her siblings: Deb (Craig) McGarry, of Omaha, Nebraska, Pat (Linda) Schumacher of Ainsworth, Nebraska, Kris Schumacher of Iowa Falls, Cindy Schumacher of Omaha, Nebraska, Beth (Doug) Gronewold of Ackley, Anne Schumacher of Iowa Falls, Steve (Mary) Schumacher of Ackley, Bob (Glenda) Schumacher of Juniata, Nebraska, Joe (Nancy) Schumacher of Windsor, Colorado, Paul Schumacher of Mason City, Jim (Margaret) Schumacher of Shelton, Connecticut, Margaret Schumacher of Omaha, and Martha Lemar of Omaha; her many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her father: Robert F. Schumacher; her brother: Michael J. Schumacher; and her nephew: Benjamin Mark Schumacher; as well as many family members and friends whom she loved and cherished beyond measure. 
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Edmond Catholic Schools in Fort Dodge, or the Denver (CO) Catholic Biblical School. Or, in Kathy’s memory, love and support those you hold dear, particularly your littlest (your ‘little wunkies’). It was those that Kathy held most dear. 
Visitation will take place at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at Saint Church, Iowa Falls. Lunch will be served directly after the funeral Mass at Saint Mark’s Church Hall.
Burial will take place at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Duncombe, Iowa.
