LONE TREE
When Lone Tree needed a powerful performance against Louisa-Muscatine on December 17, the Lions seniors responded.
Cade Shield scored 13 points and Tyler Bell scored 11 as the Lions battled back from an 8-point deficit at halftime and rolled to a 45-34 win.
The victory halted a three-game Lone Tree losing streak and extended Louisa-Muscatine’s losing streak to six games.
Four of Lone Tree’s five starters are seniors. Shield, Bell, Cade Patterson and Adam Knock combined for 37 points and 15 rebounds.
The Lions scored just three points in the opening quarter, but outscored the Falcons 17-5 in the third quarter and 11-4 in the fourth quarter.
Patterson had 4 blocks, 2 steals and 2 assists. Shield had a team-high 3 assists.
Mitchell Koedam, the only junior in the starting lineup, made both of his shots for 4 points, and added 2 steals, 2 assists and 2 rebounds.
Knock, who ranks first in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North in 3-point shooting (58.8%), hit two-of-three 3-pointers. He scored five 3-pointers in two games last week.

Lone Tree 37
Lone Tree senior guard Adam Knock had not scored a point in the first half of the Lions’ game December 14 at Wapello.
The Lions had fallen behind by five points.
It didn’t take long for Knock to fix that. His first 3-pointer of the night pulled the Lions within two points, 22-20, in the early minutes of the third quarter. Then he hit another 3-pointer to give the Lions a one-point lead.
Knock added another trey early in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough. Wapello pulled out a 48-37 SEISC victory, scoring 17 points in the final quarter.
Mitchell Koedam, a senior forward, led Lone Tree with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lions went ahead 25-22 in the third quarter, beginning the period with an eight-point run. But the Indians (4-4) held Lone Tree scoreless for the rest of the quarter and went on a 9-0 run to grab a 31-25 lead. The Indians didn’t trail after that.
Lone Tree senior Tyler Bell added 7 rebounds and 6 points for the Lions. Knock finished with 9 points and 4 rebounds.
Wapello senior Maddox Griffin scored a game-high 26 points.
