Lillian (Holderness) Embree, 83, of Apache Jct, Arizona (formerly of Oxford, Iowa) passed away June 7, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 2:30-5 p.m. at 609 Hollywood Blvd (VFW 3949) in Iowa City.
Lillian Elizabeth Embree was born Feb. 10, 1942, the daughter of Virgil E. Holderness, Sr. and Elsie Mae (Graham) Holderness. She married Gary R. Embree Sept. 17, 1960. Lillian graduated from the Kirkwood College Nursing Program in 1971. She retired in 1997 from the Iowa City VA Medical Center.
Lillian enjoyed all kinds of racing, but especially NASCAR. Shopping at Goodwill was always fun for her and she loved to find a treasure or bargain. She enjoyed going to the dog park with her beloved dogs Boo and Lil’ Chica.
Lillian will be deeply missed by her son: Brian (Balbina); daughter: Laurie; grandchildren: Christopher, Samantha, Dillon, Jazmin, Arissa and Dallas; great-grandchildren: Dean, Avalynne, Alexa, Jaxon, Olivia and Remy; and her brother and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Gary; son: Terry; grandchildren: Ashley and Derek; and her five brothers.
