LONE TREE
Continuing to heat up as the regular season approaches its end, the Lady Lions (16-3, SEISC 12-3) handled business at home with a convincing 64-16 conference win over Louisa-Muscatine (5-12, 5-9) on Jan. 28.
This was Lone Tree’s seventh straight win and they took control against the Falcons right away with a 20-2 run in the first quarter and never looked back.
It was a consistent night on offense for the Lady Lions as they put up double digit points in all four quarters to eventually take the win by 48 and secure the season sweep over the Falcons.
L-M’s offense had trouble all night trying to get into a rhythm as they were held to six or less points in every quarter by Lone Tree’s defense to eventually arrive at their final score of 16, a new season low.
Leading Lone Tree with a 13-point performance was Cate Sexton. Fellow senior Rylee Shield pulled down a team high six rebounds. Standout junior Finley Jacque ended her night leading the team in steals (5), and assists (4).
This season Lone Tree is averaging 58.4 points per game while allowing an average of 34.8 points per game. At home the Lady Lions are 8-1 and on the road they are 7-2.
