All participants will view  “Chosen” a documentary of a teen who was selected and groomed by her traffickers. An overview of human trafficking, the impact of technology on trafficking and internet safety will be presented by Teresa Davidson, Chains Interrupted.

Adults will hear Dr. Shannon Findlay, UIHC, discuss warning signs of victimization and how to identify perpetrators and Ann Thompson, from the Iowa City Police Department will explain her role assisting with victim resources.

While youth participants will do a painting activity and discuss what they’ve learned from the documentary and presentation by Teresa Davidson.

This free program is sponsored by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Craigie #94, Johnson County Human Trafficking Coalition, Chains Interrupted and St Mary’s and St Thomas More Catholic Churches.

Human trafficking is the second largest industry in the world. Youth have become increasingly more vulnerable to traffickers due to increased internet and social media usage. The average age when someone is first approached by a trafficker is 12-14 years of age.
