The Johnson County Empowerment/Early Childhood Iowa Area Board is seeking new members to serve three-year terms beginning September 2021. The board is made up of family members of children ages 0-5, citizens, providers, community volunteers and elected officials.

The Board serves the Johnson County area for the statewide Early Childhood Iowa initiative. Board participation is an opportunity for community members to contribute to decisions about how Early Childhood Iowa funds are utilized to assist Johnson County Children ages 0-5 and their families. More information about the Early Childhood Iowa initiative is available at https://earlychildhood.iowa.gov.

Board members must reside or work in Johnson County. Current areas of focused recruitment include men, people of color, dual language learners, families who have participated in Johnson County Empowerment/Early Childhood Iowa Area programs and members of a faith or business community.

Board meetings are held each month, typically on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in a hybrid format, both in-person and via Zoom.
