Huskies take first at Nike Invitational, sweep dual meets

BURLINGTON

Playing in their first 18-hole competition of the season, the Highland girls did not settle for anything less than the top spot.   

Traveling to Burlington to compete in the Nike Invitational, the Huskies put together a terrific team score of 382 to best five other teams and place first overall on April 8.

Among the final scores, Highland was the only team to come in under 400. Runner-up was awarded to Fort Madison who shot 412 and Van Buren County placed third with 428.

Leading the victorious Huskies was the trio of Emersyn Schultz (81), Adisyn Prottsman (84), and Adeline Krotz (102) who placed first, second, and third respectively.

The freshman duo of Joslyn Prottsman and Autumn Guseman rounded out the Highland scoring as they both shot identical scores of 115 to tie for 10th place.

 

Highland 201, Wapello 239

With individual performances once again dominating the top of the leaderboards, the Huskies (7-0) kept their record spotless of losses by defeating Wapello (2-1) in a home conference dual last Thursday. 

Earning medalist honors with a score of 42 was Adisyn Prottsman. Fellow junior teammate Emersyn Schultz earned runner-up medalist honors by shooting a 49. Rounding out the top three successes for Highland, Adeline Krotz nabbed third place by finishing with 53.

The next placement also belonged to the Huskies as Joslyn Prottsman ended with 57 to tie for fourth along with Wapello’s Emmalin Marshall who shot the same score.

Coming in with the final two placements for Highland was Autumn Guseman and Cassidy Duster who shot 64 and 69 respectively to place ninth and 12th.

  

Highland 196, WACO 297

Earning another conference victory, the Huskies (8-0) cruised to a win on the road over WACO last Monday.

Highland's Adisyn Prottsman earned medalist honors (43) and fellow junior teammate Emersyn Schultz earned runner-up meadlist honors (49).  The freshman duo of Joslyn Prottsman and Autumn Guseman both shot 52 to tie for thrid. 

In conference play Highland remains undefeated at 3-0. For WACO they dropped their record in conference play to 1-1.   

Up next for Highland is a home conference dual meet against Louisa-Muscatine on April 17.
