LONE TREE
It can be hard to catch up once you’ve fallen behind, and the Lone Tree school district knows this. In an act of holiday spirit, the district is making sure families don’t have to deal with negative lunch account balances going into the new year; they are clearing all debts, thanks to donations the school has received over the past few years.
“As we go into the winter break, the district is going to look at all the lunch balances, and we will use these donated funds to make sure none of our lunch balances are negative,” Superintendent Tyler Hotz wrote in a recent letter to community families. “While amounts will vary family by family, this is one small ‘gift’ the district can provide to our families as we enter the holiday season, and will also mean when we return in January, every student will be able to have breakfast and lunch.”
Many families will benefit from the debt forgiveness.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the district, and we want to especially thank the individuals and organizations who have donated to the district to make this a possibility for supporting the families of the Lone Tree School District,” Hotz said.
