RIVERSIDE
Highland freshman Kamryn Fink dislocated a thumb in the first quarter of her first career Iowa 1A tournament game Thursday.
No matter.
Fink scored a double-double, a game-high 25 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, in the Huskies’ 48-29 win over Wapello.
The victory sends the Huskies into a Regional quarterfinal Tuesday against Southeast Iowa Super Conference rival Hillcrest Academy.
Highland’s 16th win marks its most winningest season since 2015-16.
Fink hit three 3-pointers and had 4 steals. Hailey Brun, a sophomore, added 14 points and 4 steals. Emersyn Schultz, a junior, had 11 rebounds and 5 steals.
Hillcrest (11-11) defeated New London by three points to advance to the quarterfinals. The Huskies (16-7) defeated Hillcrest in two regular-season meetings.
