RIVERSIDE
Jeffrey Erickson, a social studies teacher at Highland High School, died this past weekend due to an acute illness, according to Highland Community Schools.
Ken Crawford, schools superintendent, said in a statement that Erickson had battled an "acute illness" the last two weeks.
"Mr. Erickson had just joined our Highland family this year, but he touched the lives of our students, parents and staff during his time here," Crawford said. "He quickly formed connections with our students and staff and will be missed tremendously by our Highland family."
The Highland Crisis Team has been activated and counselors are on campus to help students and staff.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
