Highland FFA concludes year with banquet, safety day

On April 30, 2023, the 2022-2023 Highland FFA members, families, and guests met for the conclusion of the 22-23 Highland FFA Banquet to finish off the FFA year.

To start the evening off, President Jenna Waters, senior, dropped the gavel for the last time at 5:35 p.m. Throughout the night of activities people enjoyed Jerry And Margie’s Catering; FFA members got recognized for their achievements over the past year; our Honorary Members were added to our Honorary Membership Plaque; the new 2023-2024 officers were inducted into office; and lastly, the chapter got to say goodbye to familiar faces one last time.

Highland FFA had three seniors this year: Peyton Yeggy, Jenna Waters, and Katelynn Waters.  Everyone also said goodbye to Gina Trower, the Highland FFA Advisor, as she will be ending her teaching career to be a full-time mom after four years with Highland.

On Wednesday, May 4, 21 Highland FFA members traveled down to Highland Elementary to teach kids about several safety aspects in the agricultural world.

Some of the safety that was covered at the annual Farm Safety Day event included the safety of cats, goats, sheep, cattle, horses and pigs. Other safety topics covered were tractors and dirt bikes.

For the elementary students, the day consisted of rotating in stations and getting the opportunity to get hands-on learning experiences while also getting to see animals and equipment up close.
