WASHINGTON
A probation revocation hearing has been set for Martell Guider for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17. The hearing follows his arrest in Cedar Rapids on Jan. 4.
A Report of Violation was filed by the Eighth Judicial Department of Correctional Services on Jan. 2. The reported violations of probation are not maintaining employment and not maintaining suitable residence as required.
There are no arraignments scheduled for probation revocation matters, which are generally set directly for a revocation hearing following initial appearance.
A probation revocation is not a criminal charge, but the defendant has a right to a hearing to contest any alleged violations of probation.
Guider, 36, of Spencer, was found guilty of sexual exploitation of a minor in August 2024 following inappropriate behavior at Pleasantview in Kalona, where he was working as a nursing assistant employed by Shiftkey, a provider of workers for health care facilities. He was sentenced to a maximum of 25 years, which was suspended, and he was placed on probation for five years under the Department of Correctional Services. He also had to comply with sex registry requirements.
