VAN METER
Sixth-ranked Van Meter ended Mid-Prairie’s girls soccer season Tuesday.
The Golden Hawks, who tied a school record with 11 wins, dropped a 6-0 game in a Class 1A regional semifinal played at Van Meter just three days after Van Meter topped Mid-Prairie in the state track & field championships in Des Moines.
Van Meter (11-3) scored four goals in the second half after taking a 2-0 lead in the first half.
The Bulldogs host Panorama (13-4) in the regional final Thursday.
Mid-Prairie had won three of its previous four games before Tuesday’s loss.
Amara Jones led the Golden Hawks with 11 goals this season.
