After tying the game in the fourth inning, Lone Tree gave up eight runs in the fifth and sixth to leave Van Buren with a 12-4 loss. 

Ellen Carrow had two hits, including the two-run single that tied the game at 4-4. 

The Warriors scored five runs on three hits and two errors in the fifth inning. 

The Lady Lions (7-7) have allowed 28 unearned runs on 18 errors during a four-game losing streak. Lone Tree has given up just 13 earned runs in those four games. 

Coach Reid Kaalberg said that his team is aware that those defensive miscues are keeping them from competing with the top teams in the conference. 

“We’ve just got to get over this hump,” he said. “I told them, if we take away two innings against Winfield, that’s a 0-0 game. If we take away two innings tonight, it’s a 4-4 game. 

“We have to play good defense for seven innings, and the girls I have out here — I know that they're all going to give me their best.

“We’re teaching them stuff that they haven't been taught before. So it's going to be hard to adjust when you've been doing the same thing over and over and we're trying to bring in something new to help them, but they're all buying in.”

Arlie Lorack had an RBI double in the first inning. Hogan Eden had two hits, but was thrown out at home plate in the first. Bella Pourry had a hit and scored a run. Rylee Shield had a hit and reached twice on errors. 

“I knew that this little stretch here was going to be a true test for us,” Kaalberg said. “And right now, I like what I'm seeing. We’ve lost a few games in a row, and that might be when you start to see the girls put their heads down and go through the motions, and not be as engaged. But I have no complaints right now. These girls are ready for practice tomorrow morning.”

WMU 7, Lone Tree 0

Winfield Mt. Union senior Madie Anderson was dominant in a two-hit shutout of Lone Tree on Thursday. Anderson struck out 13 batters in the 7-0 WMU victory

Rylee Shield and Avery Grover each had a hit for Lone Tree, while Grover was the only Lady Lion in the lineup without a strikeout. 

Lone Tree made four errors and six of the Lady Wolves seven runs were unearned. Arlie Lorack allowed no walks and seven hits, including a leadoff home run to Jobey Malone in the second inning. It was still a 3-0 game in the fifth inning until WMU tacked on three insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning. 

Wapello 12, Lone Tree 7

Ellen Carow and Arlie Lorack each had four hits and a home run on Tuesday, but Wapello scored seven runs over the final two innings to leave with a 12-7 win 

Carow was just a base shy of the cycle with a single, two doubles and a sixth inning solo shot. Lorack homered on the next pitch to pull the Lady Lions within a run of Wapello at 8-7. 

Lone Tree loaded the bases with one out, but couldn’t push the go-ahead run across the plate. 

Lorack had a team-high three RBIs and Carow led Lone Tree with three runs. 

Alex Dautremont was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Rylee Shield was 2 for 5. Ella Buser had a hit and an RBI, while Hogan Eden, and Kayleigh Rundlett had hits as well. 

Lone Tree outhit Wapello 15-13, but the Arrows drew four walks, had three batters hit and had three runners reach on errors.
