Elijah Coblentz, 65, of Kalona, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from apparent heart failure. A funeral was held Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Burial followed at the Peter Miller Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County and Fairview Church.
Elijah Coblentz was born May 2, 1957, in Washington, the son of Harley and Barbara (Gingerich) Coblentz. He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and later joined Fairview Church. Elijah worked at English River Pellets and enjoyed fishing, going to the sale barn and watching harness racing.
Survivors include his brother: Daniel (Esther) Coblentz of Kalona; sister: Fannie Coblentz of Kalona; sister-in-law: Susie Coblentz of Bloomfield, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Elijah in death were his parents; two brothers: Dwight and Joe; and two sisters: Ruby and Marie.
