As of July 16, 2021, the Washington County Health Department has lifted the Drinking Water Health Advisory for the City of Kalona.
Water sample results have been under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) short-term health advisory level of .03 mg/L for over five days.
The City of Kalona is continuing to work with companies for cleaning and replacing the media in the filters.
Fire hydrants are scheduled to be flushed July 28 through July 30. Work will start at 5 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. During these days, you may experience low or no water pressure and water discoloration. Flushing hydrants will help reduce the spotty cloudiness you may see in your water.
Notices will be posted on the City of Kalona’s website, Facebook and be sent to each resident who receives a water bill.
