Charles L. “Chuck” Kron, 67, of rural Kalona, died Monday, April 18, 2022, at his home, following a sudden illness. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, with Father Bill Roush and Deacon Derick Cranston officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Riverside. Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, from 4 – 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A memorial fund has been established for St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Charles Louis Kron was born July 8, 1954, in Iowa City, the son of Elmo J. and Virginia (Lenz) Kron. He graduated from Highland High School. Chuck was united in marriage to Mary DeJong at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside; the couple later divorced.

Chuck farmed and drove trucks for Wayne Feeds for many years. Chuck had a deep passion for agriculture passed down from his father that he instilled in his sons and later grandsons. He took great pride in helping future generations succeed in farming.

Chuck was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed farming, fishing, sports with his kids when they were younger, and spending time with his grandkids.

Survivors include two children: Michelle Kron of Pella and Curtis (Alissa) Kron of Riverside; two grandsons: Colton and Caleb Kron; his mother: Virginia Kron of Lone Tree; five siblings: Marilyn Thomann of Kearney, Mo, Linda (Doug) Corpman of Columbus Junction, Jane (Tom) Hotz of Lone Tree, Greg (Vickie) Kron of Springville, and Kristine (Tim) Stumpf of Lone Tree, brother-in-law: Alan Chalupa of Wellman; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; his son: Phillip Kron; his sister: Joyce Kron-Chalupa; nephew: Nicholas Kron; and brother-in-law: John Thomann.
