Carolyn Ann (Fry) Levy passed away Jan. 25, 2023. She was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Kalona, Iowa, to Dr. JL and Genevieve Fry. Carolyn attended Clark College and Marquette University and taught in a one room schoolhouse during WWII.
Carolyn and Harry Levy were married June 9, 1949, and had six children: Mike (Mary), Deb (Steve) Larson, Dave (Peg), Marty (Chris), Jennifer and Becky. She was so proud of her grandchildren: Jessica (Nick) Ludwig, Amy (Ryan) VenHorst, Joe (Annie) Levy, Eric (Katie) Larson, Paul (Alex) Levy, Ryan (Alissa) Levy, Jay Sherman, Kelly Sherman, and her 10 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn is also survived by her brother: Paul Fry, 100 years young of Freeport, Illinois.
She was very active in the community in various ways, such as working to raise money to build the Washington County Developmental Center, fundraising for the National Kidney Foundation (Iowa), as a member of the Washington County Hospital Board, and worked extensively with the Iowa Democratic Party. Carolyn was an avid golfer and won the club championship in 1973. She excelled in her role as Mom and gave her children the greatest gift of a happy childhood and a loving family.
There will be a visitation with the family at Halcyon House Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HACAP (HACAP.org), YMCA of Washington County (washingtony.org), and Hospice of Washington County (hospicewc.com).
