Leah Bontrager of Hillcrest Academy conquered the hills of the English Valleys Invitational and captured third place in the meet held Sept. 15.
It was the second consecutive top 10 finish for Bontrager, a sophomore who finished 10th in the Hillcrest Early Bird meet.
She completed the course in 22:42.
“Leah ran a great race, moving up through the field of competitors the entire way, ending up in third place,” Hillcrest coach Marty Gingerich said. “Her goal was to place higher than her fourth place here last year. That took running a faster time than she did on our home course at the Early Bird, which is quite an accomplishment since the EV course is very hilly.”
Taylor Sublette of Highland finished 14th with a time of 25:11.
Nick Saltzman of Lone Tree finished 17th in the bous race with a time of 21:01.
