RIVERSIDE

Clinging to a two-run lead in its Class 1A baseball tournament game Saturday in Riverside, Hillcrest discovered the perfect time for a big inning.

The Ravens scored seven times in the sixth inning, batting all the way through its lineup, and went on for an 11-2 win over Grand View Christian that advanced them into the semifinal round of District 8.

Hillcrest faces Southeast Iowa Super Conference rival Highland in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Highland High School in Riverside.

Luke Schrock had three hits and drove in three runs for the Ravens (12-10). Mason Bender and Rowan Miller each had two hits and scored twice.

Freshman pitcher Seth Ours gave up just one run in 4.1 innings, and delivered a two-run single in the sixth inning rally. After loading the bases, the Ravens scored three runs on bases-loaded walks and one on a hit batter.

Hillcrest went ahead 4-0 on single runs in the second and third innings, and two runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Schrock.

Hillcrest has won five consecutive games.
