Mid-Prairie’s arrows flew straight and true this past weekend at the State Archery Tournaments in Des Moines, as the Golden Hawk Archery Club’s High School team qualified for Nationals by earning a top three finish in the 3D Championships with Lael Seale placing first overall to win the individual 3D grand championship.
Led by freshman Seale claiming the high school state title with a score of 293 (hitting 23 tens), the Hawks placed third overall in the 3D tournament with a final score of 1701. First place went to Spencer, who ended the team competition with 1719.
Another top finisher in 3D for Mid-Prairie was Ava Miller who shot a 286 (hitting 20 tens) to place fifth overall. The next three highest placing Hawks were Elijah Statler (placing 13th with 286), Landon Kuenster (placing 18th with 285), and Averi Janecek (placing 17th with 280).
In the Bullseye tournament, the High School team for Mid-Prairie placed 11th in the final team standings with a score of 3327. Janecek led the Hawks by placing 13th with 286 (hitting 18 tens). The championship was won by Cedar Rapids Prairie who had a first-place score of 3392.
Mid-Prairie’s middle school team procured a top-ten finish in the Bullseye tournament with a score of 3229 to place seventh overall. West Fork took first place with 3272. The Hawks were led by Noah Coblentz (placing 12th with 281), Braxton Ropp (placing 16th with 280), Easton Gorsch (placing 34th with 277), and Joshua Seale (placing 43rd with 277).
In the 3D tournament, the middle school Hawks placed 18th with a score of 1566. Once again, West Fork took first place with 1664. Leading the way for Mid-Prairie was Preston Ford (placing 28th with 274), Coblentz (placing 37th with 272), and Landon Allen (placing 57th with 268).
Up next for the Golden Hawk Archery Club’s High School team is competing at 3D Nationals at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville taking place from May 8-10.
