Wellman Garden Club enjoyed their annual Christmas luncheon on Dec. 20, in the Asbury UMC fellowship hall. President Bohr welcomed us, and said the blessing before our delicious meal, catered by Janet Stutzman. The menu included chicken casserole, broccoli salad, applesauce, rolls with honey butter, as well as chocolate or coconut cream pie.
Members brought donations for the Wellman Food Pantry, and signed Christmas cards to send to former garden club members.
After lunch we had a brief business meeting. There was a discussion about changing our meeting day from Fridays to Thursdays. We voted to do so in September of 2020. Members are to consider whether they would prefer changing to Tuesday or Thursday, and the issue will be decided in February.
Our president reminded us that Garden Club will not get together in January, so our next meeting will be our Feb. 21, which is the Antique Road Show at the Senior Center. We will eat lunch that day, and each member should call in reservations by 9 a.m.
Pam Nelson read an amusing story, “The Christmas Hatchet” by Patrick McManus. Before dismissing, we sang several Christmas carols. Our president thanked us for coming and wished us all a Merry Christmas!
