Wellman firefighter Glenn Rowe is battling cancer, and the Wellman Fire Department wants to help Rowe and his family fight this battle.
Rowe has served his community for more than 30 years on the fire department.
He joined the department in 1988 and has seen his son – and now his grandson – follow in his footsteps serving with the Wellman Fire Department.
Rowe was diagnosed with cancer last fall and has undergone three separate surgeries to slow the growth and save his bladder and kidneys.
He and his family have incurred massive medical expenses in addition to their day-to-day living expenses.
To show their appreciation for Rowe’s decades of service, the Wellman Fire Department decided to put together a fundraiser for Rowe and his family.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, holding a fundraiser meal or auction is not possible.
The department decided to reach out to the community through local media and social media to ask for help.
Monetary donations can be sent to the Wellman Fire Department, P.O. Box 96, Wellman, IA 52356.
They can also be dropped off at Westside Auto in Wellman.
