We should all do our part to curb COVID-19 spread

Dear Editor:

It concerns me that in the last two editions of the paper there is not one single picture of someone wearing a mask, as personal protective equipment to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This seems irresponsible.

With school set to open soon, I would think that everyone would want to do everything we can to curb the spread of this deadly virus, to make sure that our children will be able to attend school safely, to break the chain that will enable all of us to return to normal interactions – maybe even hugs!

Or will it take losing someone close to you, before you will take precautions and encourage others to do so?

I got this card from AARP, listing simple ways to minimize your exposure to coronavirus:

• Wear a cloth face covering (mask).

• Keep 6 feet between yourself and others if you go out.

• Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds frequently and disinfect touched surfaces daily.

• Minimize trips to buy groceries, prescriptions, etc. This means stay home if possible.

At the same time, we need to stay home connected:

• Check in regularly with friends and family by calling, texting, emailing, video chatting and writing letters.

• Keep your mind and body active by walking, gardening, cycling, playing games or learning something new.

• Volunteer to help others with their shopping.

And remember, we’re all in this together.
