The city of Riverside is $800 closer to building a community center.
Kelli Schneider donated that amount to the city fund for the center at the council’s Feb. 18 meeting.
The majority of the money came from the Winning Hands program at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort. The program is an incentive for casino employees – such as Schneider – to volunteer in their communities.
The Winning Hands check was for $779, and Schneider wrote a personal check to round the donation up to $800.
The latest donation brings Schneider’s total donations to the community center to $2,300.
The city has plans for building a community center on the north side of the city. Property has been set aside on Galileo Drive for the project, which is still in the planning stages.
