Vileen Mae Hostetler

Vileen Mae Hostetler, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Friday, Nov. 15, 2019. Services were held Nov. 25, 2019 in Colorado.

Vileen was born at home near Kalona, Iowa, on Sept. 11, 1929, the daughter of John L. and Emma Brenneman Hostetler. Vileen attended Beth-El Mennonite Hospital School of Practical Nursing in La Junta, Colo., and graduated in 1960 as a practical nurse. She then moved to Glenwood Springs and worked in a nursing home there for a time. When the nursing home closed, she then moved to Colorado Springs to begin working at Laurel Manor Care Center Nursing Home. She worked there until her retirement.

In 1983, Vileen completed a specialty program in gerontology. In September of 2000, Vileen received a certificate of appreciation from the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses.

She volunteered at Laurel Manor Care Center after her retirement and received several certificates of appreciation from them.

Vileen was a volunteer with the senior resource council in Colorado Springs. She was active with the Beth-El Mennonite Church.

She is survived by her sister: Lafena Hostetler of Kalona; brother: John (Anna Mae) Hostetler of Virginia; and half-sister: Sharol (Larry) Phinney of Virginia.

She was preceded by her parents.
