United Way Worldwide and Kendall-Jackson have partnered to pledge $2 million to a fund that will provide financial support to grocery workers across the nation.

Any current employee of a grocery store or a retail store with a grocery department with a demonstrated need for financial assistance can apply. Eligible recipients will receive a $250 gift card that can be used as cash anywhere major credit cards are accepted.

“From the start of the COVID-19 crisis, supermarkets have been a constant source of relief, providing Americans with essential goods and delivering a semblance of normalcy,” the United Way of Johnson County said in a press release. “The fund will recognize these employees as essential workers year-round — not just in a state of emergency — while providing much-needed financial support… for the immediate needs of frontline grocery store workers.

Grocery workers are encouraged to apply for relief funds at Unitedway.org/groceryrelief.
