A few years ago while delivering some Christmas goodies to one of my rural neighbors as I went to enter their house their dog Spike grabbed the back of my leg.
I shook him off and my sweet, elderly neighbor lady said, “Oh, he just does that.”
Every time I hear Trump apologists like Sens. Ernst and Grassley provide excuses for President Trump’s behavior I think of Spike.
The Mueller report documented more than 100 contacts between the Trump campaign and Russians. Mueller testified under oath that the Russians were trying to help Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton.
Cheating to get an edge in an election – Oh, he just does that.
Fast-forward to today where Trump is credibly accused of using the power of his office to extort bogus dirt on Joe Biden.
Oh, he just does that.
Constantly lying. Oh, he just does that.
What Republicans would have us believe is that Trump is special, a “bidnissman” who is so talented that he can’t be bothered with pesky laws and ethical norms.
This is crap.
The bare minimum the American people should be able to expect of a president is to uphold the oath to defend the Constitution and the laws of the land and to be truthful.
This president is an abject failure at behaving ethically and has shown nothing but contempt for truth, the law, and the Congressional oversight mandated in the constitution.
His obstruction alone renders him unfit to serve. He should be impeached.
