Transmission equipment failure was the cause of a 5-hour power outage in the Kalona area Sunday morning, according Alliant Energy spokesman Morgan Hawk.
Hawk said that Alliant first got a call about power outage around 4 a.m. but there were reports that the power was out earlier Sunday morning.
Hawk said the outage effected about 2,300 customers in Kalona, Frytown and Hills area.
Power was restored in Hills around 7 a.m. and Frytown at 7:15 a.m. Power was not restore in Kalona until 8:22 a.m.
