Tractors will be taking over the streets of Kalona on Saturday afternoon.
Dean Miller has organized a tractorcade that will take to the streets at 5 p.m.
“Several of the local tractor rides have been canceled this year,” Miller said. “I thought it would be a great way to get the tractor out and hopefully bring some enjoyment to local residents.”
The route will be the same as the classic car cruise organized by Mayor Mark Robe in May.
Tractors will gather in the Sunnyside Mennonite Church parking lot on Highway 22 on the east side of Kalona, and the parade will begin at 5 p.m.
Participants can park and unload their tractors at the Kalona Sales Barn before going to the gathering spot at the church.
The parade will move north on 14th Street, then west on J Avenue and south on Sixth Street.
It will wind around Pleasantview Home before crossing Highway 22 moving south on Fourth Street.
After moving through downtown Kalona, the parade will make its way west on A Avenue to Ninth Street, where it will end at the Kalona Sales Barn.
No registration is required.
Miller said he does not know how many tractors will take part in Saturday’s parade.
“It could be 10, it could be 100,” he said. “I really have no idea.”
