On Sunday evening, the Stutzman Family Singers will return to their roots for a performance at Fairview Mennonite Church in Kalona at 6 p.m.
Steve Stutzman grew up near Kinross. He married Dorcas (Kropf) in 1990, and they lived near South English for several years.
Later, they purchase a place near Frytown, while they ran their Iowa City business and raised their family of five children: Tanisha, Gianna, Jevan, Jalon and Karina.
For seven years, the family lived in Frytown, maintained the business in Iowa City and traveled for weekends, or several weeks at a time, all across the country. The family scene, with the children singing, had a tremendous impact in prison institutions.
The year 2020 marks 20 years of ministry and travel for the Stutzmans.
The very first of the anniversary events will be in Kalona area.
The entire family will be together to sing, along with special numbers by the grandbabies, providing they can hold still that long.
The evening will include some sharing of memories made along the way, by the entire family.
The event is free of charge but will include opportunity to share with the ministry of Strait Paths.
The program also includes widely renowned ventriloquist and comedian, Ryan Bombgardner, who is also a personal friend of the Stutzmans, and will do a roast of the Stutzmans as part of his repertoire.
