Senator Dawn Driscoll, R-Williamsburg, announced her plan to seek reelection to Iowa Senate District 46 today.

“I am so incredibly proud of the accomplishments we have seen this past year,” said Senator Driscoll. “Among our achievements was historic property tax reform to help address the concerns of Iowans and control the growth of property taxes. I also worked with constituents to pass legislation to increase penalties for sexual exploitation of a minor, legislation to help address the health care provider shortage, and realign state government to improve efficiency and responsiveness.”

“Throughout my time in the Senate, I have also been proud to support a flat tax to provide income tax relief to all Iowans, billions in funding to support Iowa students and their education, eliminated taxes on retirement income, and eliminated the inheritance tax. We have seen remarkable progress for our state, and I know more can be done. As the chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee and full-time farmer, I am proud to stand up for agriculture and protect the livelihoods of farmers all across the state.”

Senator Driscoll is the chair of the Senate Agricultural Committee. She also serves on the Local Government, Natural Resources and Environment, State Government, Ways and Means, and Workforce committees. She is a sixth-generation farmer and a mother of three. She was the past president of the Iowa County Farm Bureau, and has been an active volunteer in her community, including chairman of the Ag in the Classroom program in schools and nursing homes, coaching volleyball and basketball, a religious education teacher, 4-H community leader, and a preschool board president.

Senator Driscoll has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Western Illinois University. She currently raises Angus cattle and farms with her family in rural Iowa County.

Senate District 46 includes all of Iowa and Washington counties. It also includes a portion of Johnson County. Senator Driscoll was first elected to the Iowa Senate in 2020. Due to redistricting she was reelected in 2022 and is running for a four-year term in 2024.
