Selena Jean Barnes was born Nov. 30, 1939, in Iowa City, the daughter of Dorothy Adams and father, Roy Gascho. She attended Wellman High School, and lived in the Wellman area all her life. Selena worked at Parkview Manor for a number of years. On Oct. 5, 1958, Selena was united in marriage to Dennis J. Barnes in Wellman. Selena passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 81.
Selena is survived by three children: Del (Fritz) Frederick of North English, Mace (Kimberly) Barnes of Olds, and Holly Hamilton of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother: Danny Gascho of Wellman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Marty Barnes; and an infant son.
Celebration of life gathering was Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A general memorial fund has been established.
