Sales Barn to host vaccination clinic Aug. 2

Rural Health & Safety of Eastern Iowa, One to One Pharmacy, Washington County Public Health and Mercy Iowa City are partnering to provide a free COVID vaccination clinic in the parking lot west of the Kalona Sales Barn on Monday, Aug. 2. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to noon for patients age 12 and up. No appointments are necessary.

“Our rural health group has been interested in promoting vaccines in the community and so we tried to think of venues where we could engage a number of people,” said Nyle Kauffman. “I also realize that a lot of the people that go [to the Sales Barn] are those who might not be interested in vaccines, but even in spite of that we decided we’d like to give them the opportunity to be vaccinated.”

Rural Health & Safety of Eastern Iowa also promoted a clinic at the Sharon Center parade earlier this month, where no one accepted the vaccine. But this time around, Kauffman said his group is trying to spread the word more that the clinic will be available.

“The treatments aren’t real good for his disease and people are dying from it,” Kauffman said. “This Delta variant is causing a resurgence of cases in our communities. The best protection we have against COVID and the best way we have of containing this epidemic is vaccination. As many people getting vaccinated as possible is the more important thing to stop it.”

For more information about the mobile clinic, see the advertisement on the bottom of his page.
