Riverside Casino Golf Resort General Manager Damon John invites guests to bring toys, games, and books for children aged newborn to 15-years old to Riverside Casino & Golf Resort to brighten the holidays for area children. The Pack-the-Truck Event will accept contributions from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10.
Swarm Collective athletes from the University of Iowa will participate in the campaign and greet donors at the event. Riverside has partnered with the Swarm Collective and appreciates the students’ help in charitable events hosted on property. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the student athletes scheduled to attend are Brody Brecht (baseball), Drake Ayala (wrestling), and Brody Teske (wrestling). From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., athletes scheduled are Josie Durr (soccer) and Kelli McGroaty (soccer).
“As the holidays approach, we are excited to partner with Toys for Tots and the Swarm Collective to help families throughout our community,” said General Manager Damon John. “Raising funds for area youth really puts our company values into action. We have great guests, and we appreciate their participation.”
Toys for Tots spokesperson Marcia McKeag said, “We are thankful for Riverside Casino & Golf Resort’s campaign for children. They are great to work with and the generosity of their customers is appreciated.”
For infants, McKeag suggests staying away from clothes and instead purchasing blocks, musical toys, dolls, teething toys, sorting toys and bath toys. For older children, she said sporting goods such as basketballs and footballs, art and craft supplies, Legos, science kits and board games make good gifts.
The Toys for Tots Truck will be parked in front of the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort Events Center Entrance from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10. Gift cards cannot be accepted but cash and toy donations are welcome.
