The donation of a passenger ambulance from the City of Riverside to Washington County was finalized by a board of supervisor’s vote on Oct. 27.
Riverside now contracts with the newly formed Washington County Ambulance Service for transport/ambulance services and no longer needs or uses the donated ambulance, which will be used by the county service as a backup vehicle. This means that, should any county ambulances need to be taken off the road for maintenence or other issues, the Washington County Ambulance Service will not have to rent replacement vehicles.
The county plans to do about $7,500 worth of preventative maintanence on the unit, but this expense is still less than the purchase of even a used ambulance.
