Rebels beat Mid-Prairie in 2020 opener

A Northeast burst of scoring in the third quarter gave the Rebels a 60-47 win over the Golden Hawks.

Mid-Prairie trailed by only three after halftime, but Northeast junior Emma Fowler went off the second half. She scored 20 of her 28 points in the third and fourth quarters and also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Rebels. The Rebels outscored Mid-Prairie 19-11 in the third quarter.

The Golden Hawks got their highest scoring from Maddie Nonnenmann, who scored 16 on 6-14 shooting. She grabbed six rebounds for the Hawks.

The leading rebounder was a new face to the starting lineup for Mid-Prairie in Jaselyn Robertson. She grabbed eight rebounds and had two blocks in her first start of the season.

Myah Lugar had 12 points in the loss.  It was the first game back from injury for Caitlyn Riggan and she scored five points.

Mid-Prairie is now 2-5 on the season. They will play four games over the next seven days. They will finish out the first round of River Valley Conference South play with Wilton on Tuesday and West Branch on Friday. They will host a crossover against Anamosa on Saturday and then a non-conference game against Williamsburg on Monday.
