Kalona Optimist Club President Jim Crowther (center) present the co-Optimist of the Year award to Julia and Alvin Kramer at a recent reception before the Kramers left for their new home in Texas. Alvin has served the Optimists Club as a president twice and chaired a number of projects. Julia served as the Club’s secretary for the past couple of years and helped with the Community of Flags, essay and oratorical contests and other projects.
