Oleta M. Keifer, 98, of Washington, died Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the Washington County Hospital.  Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will be having public services at a later time.  A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Oleta Mae (Boese) Keifer was born May 14, 1921, in Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Lela (Bain) Boese.  She was united in marriage to Howard Keifer on Aug. 10, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo.  The couple lived and farmed in the Richmond community before moving to Washington more than 20 years ago. 

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  Oleta was a huge Hawkeye fan and never missed a football or basketball game on TV.

Survivors include two sons: Doug (Joan) Keifer of Ankeny, Iowa, and Jim (Kathy) Keifer of Kalona; three grandchildren: Jamie (Pete) Jones, Ryan (Katya) Keifer and Neil (Haley) Keifer; six great-grandchildren: Keifer, Harper and Asher Jones and Miles, Emma and Neve Keifer; and sister-in-law: Anita Keifer of Iowa City.

Preceding Oleta in death were her parents and her husband: Howard.
