WASHINGTON
In a nine-minute meeting Wednesday, Jan. 24, county supervisors unanimously approved a resolution to finance county projects. The resolution establishes compliance with reimbursement bond regulations under the federal Internal Revenue code to provide for borrowing and repayment.
The meeting was set after discussions with bonding company officials Monday.
In practical terms, the resolution provides initially for $150,000 to purchase vehicles for the sheriff’s department and a new ambulance for the Ambulance and Emergency Services Department. The purchase had been arranged in November with transaction completion deadline in January. The Wednesday meeting was held in order to meet that deadline and price.
Additional county projects include replacement of the communications tower in Wellman that was destroyed in the March 31, 2023 tornado and may be done this spring.
