Mid-Prairie scored 11 touchdowns, breaking a few school records on the way to a 77-13 victory in Albia.

Their 77 points breaks the previous best of 72 set in 1997. The team pushed themselves to third on the season list as well, with 377 points in more than nine games. The record sits at 500 set in 2008. The 11 touchdowns scored is also a single game record, tying the 11 set against Wilton in 1997.

As a team, they gained a massive 645 yards of offense, 15 yards more than the previous single-game record set in 2006. A big part of that was big plays.

The Golden Hawks had nine plays go more than 20 yards on the night including two very long touchdown runs. Kayden Reinier tied for the second longest rush in school history with a 93-yard touchdown and Vinnie Bowlin ripped off an 80-yard score as well.

The game was never in doubt as the Golden Hawks quickly forced a three-and-out on the first Albia drive of the game and scored four players later with Kayden Reinier running in his first of five touchdowns on the night, this one from 22 yards out. He finished the night with 270 yards rushing on 20 carries.

The domination continued from there as the Golden Hawks put up at least two touchdowns in each quarter.

Quarterback Brad Tornow broke into the top 10 in career touchdowns thrown with a first-quarter toss to Chris Miller for a 22-yard touchdown. It was his 13th touchdown pass of his career and eighth of the season.

Vinnie Bowlin had three touchdowns on just seven carries and ran for 141 yards. Nathan Quinby had a pair of touchdowns on four carries. Luke Boyse broke a 54-yard run late in the game. Overall, Mid-Prairie had 537 yards rushing on 40 carries, a 13.4 yards per carry average.

A potent Albia offense had some moments of clarity, driving down the field a few times. Despite putting up yards, the Golden Hawk defense found ways to create five turnovers against the Demons. Justice Jones, Miller, Brad Tornow and Vinnie Bowlin had interceptions and Dominic McCain recovered a fumble.

Jones led the defense with eight total tackles to bring his season total to 58.5 including 4.5 for loss and a sack. The Mid-Prairie sophomore wraps up his first season on varsity as the defensive play caller and leading tackler. He said it took a few games, but he felt like as the season wore on he really clicked into the position.

Those turnovers gave Mid-Prairie a starting field position of their own 43 throughout the game. Albia on average started at their own 28.

Mid-Prairie only punted once during the game, scoring on 11 of 13 drives during the game with four different players scoring.

Albia’s second touchdown of the night was scored by Zack Schwarte, a special needs student at Albia. He ran for a 68-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
