HILLS
The Hills city council met on Monday, Feb. 26, to discuss new city projects in the works, including a mural, clean-up days, and a fence.
First, the council approved the fire department as the potential home for a town mural. The mural would face the park adjacent to the building and have a matching theme although no details have been decided. The town committee working out the details couldn’t start the process until they found a home for the mural.
The council also discussed Hills’ clean-up day, approving up to three clean-up days this year. There will be one in spring, summer and fall, pending availability of the company providing services. As of now, no dates are final.
These three clean-up dates will be used to gauge public interest and participation, and future plans will be altered as needed.
Hills also approved a bid for a four-foot fence that would separate private property and city property after concerns were raised from both sides. The fence would provide a modest level of privacy, prevent unwelcome visitors and cost less than the other bids the council saw.
Lastly, Hills approved to host a public hearing for proposed property taxes at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, April 8, preceding the public meeting that night.
Next council meeting: Hills will next meet on Monday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in the Hills Community Center.
