MPHS Choirs to Present Annual Pops & Pie Concert

Posted

On Thursday, Feb. 29, the Mid-Prairie High School Choral department will be presenting its annual Pops & Pie Concert. This concert is split into two portions.

At 6:15 p.m., soloists and small groups will present a myriad of songs. Expect to hear Frank Sinatra’s “Moonlight Serenade,” “Empty Chairs and Empty Tables” from Les Miserables, a bit of “Bye, Bye, Bye” from NSYNC, a cowboy ballad in “Billy the Kid,” a little steampunk with “The Death of the Cog,” “Never Getting Rid of Me,” from the musical Waitress, “Arabian Nights” from Aladdin, a family band affair with “Route 66,” a classic of “The Rainbow Connection,” and much more.

At 8 p.m., Lyrica and Mixed Choir will present their larger choral works. Lyrica will sing “We Can Dream” by PinkZebra, “El Vito” arranged by Emily Crocker, and “Safe & Sound” from The Hunger Games. Mixed Choir will present “Mountain Dance” by Roger Emerson, “Pompeii” arranged by Jacob Narverud, and “Does the World Say” by Kyle Pederson.

As the title of the concert suggests, the department will have pop music, plus pie to eat. Consider supporting these students Thursday, Feb. 29, starting at 6:15 p.m. in the HS Cafeteria. Admission is $2 for adults and free for all students. There will also be a tip jar to help support the auditorium fund.
