Monroe G. Miller, 92, of Kalona, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at his home in Kalona.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at Fairview Church.  The service will be livestreamed on the Beatty Peterseim Facebook Page.  Burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery.  A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice, Iowa Plowing Association and the Pleasantview Home Building Fund.  Social distancing guidelines will be in place.  The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Monroe Glen Miller was born March 5, 1928, in Johnson County, the son of Eli L. and Anna (Gingerich) Miller.  He attended Boone School near Sharon Center.  Monroe was united in marriage to Emma Jean Hostetler on Oct. 14, 1951, at Fairview Church.   He farmed all of his life and was a member of the Fairview Church, where he served in many capacities. 

Monroe was a member of the Iowa and USA Plowing Associations, and had served on the Farmer’s Electric Board, the Pleasantview Home Board, and the MCC Sale Committee.  Among his many interests he enjoyed plowing, tractor pulls and tractor rides.

 Survivors include his wife: Emma Jean of Kalona; five children: Dean (Julie) Miller of Kalona, Evie (Paul) Yoder of Buda, Ill., Ray (Ginny) Miller of Chambersburg, Pa., Lee (Pam) Miller of Iowa City, and Lyle (Bonnie) Miller of Goshen, Ind.; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Dan) Newendorp, Sheena (David) Johnson, Alicia (Philip) Yoder, James Miller, Monica Miller, Brian (Kally) Miller, Kyle (Quinlan) Miller, Tony Miller, and Ryan Miller (fiancée Carolyn Saylor); nine great-grandchildren: Lydia and Caleb Johnson, Shiloh, Jed and Micah Yoder, Reyer Newendorp, Morgan and Zoey Miller and Cooper Miller; and one sister: Cora Frey of Newton, Kan.

Preceding Monroe in death were his parents; infant brother: George; infant sister: Ella; two brothers: Eldon and Paul Miller; and one sister: Nettie Schrock.
