Lone Tree had five competitors Saturday in the Class 1A-Section 16 meet in West Branch. Two advanced to Saturday’s district meet in Wilton.
At 220 pounds, Timothy Mills spent less than two minutes on the mat in claiming first place. He pinned Jacob Miller of Wapello in 1:14 in the semifinals then defeated Spencer Kessel of Louisa-Muscatine with a 38-second fall in the first-place match.
“Tim wrestled very practical and strategic,” said head coach Clint Jones. “He has some really good shots in his arsenal so we’d like to see him continue to use them.”
Will Hotz claimed a second-place showing at 170 pounds. After losing in the first-place match to Cameron Keith of Wilton, he won his second-place match with a no-contest win over Danny Gavin of Iowa City Regina.
