Dakota Mitchell, a junior libero for Mid-Prairie's volleyball team, has verbaled her commitment to North Texas University.
Mitchell, a 2022 All-State selection, is ranked fifth in defensive digs in Iowa Class 3A. She has started at Mid-Prairie since she was a freshman, and in summer 2021 as an infielder for the softball varsity team.
North Texas is an NCAA D-I volleyball program based in Denton, Texas.
The NCAA signing date for incoming freshman in the 2025-26 class is November 2024.
Mitchell is the second current Mid-Prairie student-athlete to verbal at the D-I level. Baseball player Karson Grout is a University of Iowa verbal.
Myah Lugar, a 2021 Mid-Prairie graduate who played on the volleyball, basketball and softball teams, is a junior rower at Iowa. She was an All-Big Ten Academic honoree in 2023.
