Mid-Prairie shuts out Pekin 43-0

Mid-Prairie forced four turnovers on the way to a 43-0 victory over Pekin on Friday night. 

After forcing a punt on Pekin's opening drive, the Golden Hawks drove down a short field for a 15-yard touchdown run by Brad Tornow. 

Later in the first quarter Mid-Prairie took advantage of the first of four Pekin fumbles on a 50-yard passing touchdown to Zeb Danner. 

Mid-Prairie finished out the first quarter with Kayden Reinier's first rushing touchdown of the night, a 6-yard run. 

Mid-Prairie went into the locker room with a 21-0 lead. 

After halftime, Mid-Prairie received and went on a 8-play 75-yard drive that finished in a 22-yard bootleg run by Tornow. 

Mid-Prairie got the clock running for good on Reinier's second touchdown of the night. 

They capped off the shutout with a 6-yard rushing touchdown by Nathan Quinby, his first of the season. 

Mid-Prairie rushed for 205 yards and threw for 139. Reinier led all rushers with 101 yards on 19 carries. Zeb Danner had three catches for 58 yards. 

They key for the Golden Hawks was a solid effort on third down. The Golden Hawks converted 10-13 third downs and scored on all four red zone opportunities. 

Jack Baker had three tackles for loss and one forced fumble, leading the team with six tackles. Defensive lineman Isaac Boucher had a sack and a fumble recovery.
