Cael Garvey’s (160 pounds) and Gannon Callahan’s (285 pounds) runner-up performances helped Mid-Prairie to a sixth-place team standing Saturday at the River Valley Conference meet at Tipton Middle School.

After a scoreless first period, Garvey racked up points nine points in a hurry before recording a fall win at 3:14 over Ted Weber of Cascade in the quarterfinals at 160 pounds. Against Aidan Udell of Regina in the semifinals, Garvey used a pair of takedowns to build a 7-1 first period lead. He would take a 10-7 decision win on the championship bout where he fell to Will Esmoil of West Liberty.

At 285 pounds, Callahan used a big four-point nearfall to gain an edge in his quarterfinal match against Mason Reuter of Monticello.
