Mid-Prairie, IMS take on Raider Invite

Mid-Prairie’s Marie Hostetler continues to separate herself at the top of distance events, improving her state-leading 300-meter run time by five seconds last Tuesday at Williamsburg. 

Hostetler ran a 10:14.76, a 5.18 second improvement over her season best and builds a 10- second lead over the next best recorded time so far this season. Hostetler also picked up a win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.71. 

Mid-Prairie’s sprint medley of Maddie Edgington, Cassidy Rourke, Amber Swart and Mitzi Evans finished in second place with a time of 1:56.94, which is the 37th best time run in the state this season and sixth in Class 2A. 

Mid-Prairie’s Amber Swart was second in the 200 with a time of 27.29. 

Iowa Mennonite was also in attendance at the meet, with Suzanna Yoder taking first place in the open 400 with a time of 1:05.16, 18th best in Class 1A this year. Yoder also took fourth place in the 100 and 200. 

Iowa Mennonite freshman Leah Bontrager scored with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.01 and by taking seventh in the 1500-meter run at 6:11.88. 

Mid-Prairie’s Tori Boyse scored in both throwing events for Mid-Prairie with a third-place finish in the discus at 112-feet 7-inches and fifth in the shot put with a heave of 35-feet. Kylee Kos scored in the discus with a toss of 95-feet 3-inches. 

In the 400-meter hurdles, Kessa Jones placed fourth with a time of 1:16.37. That marks a new season best for Jones, who qualified for state in the event last season. 

Abbagail Evans, Angelina Evans, Sarah Meader and Kate Cavanagh took fourth in the 4x400 with a time of 4:31.09.
